Introduction

M.A English is a two year program which is a unique amalgamation of both English Literature and English Linguistics. The emphasis is laid on major literary works of eminent writers of all eras of English literature. Moreover , the program includes courses focusing on all branches of linguistics along with the development of English language and literature. The program emphasizes to impart thorough understanding of various spheres of English literature and linguistics so that the students can understand, analyze, and appreciate the literary writings and can apply their knowledge of linguistic concepts in their own social and psychological context. The students are also made aware of language learning process in a way that they can devise teaching and learning techniques according to their own social context.
